Frequently asked questions

Who is the buying group for?

Workplaces that want café-quality coffee without sending people out for it, and managers who want to treat their team to something better. Most members are teams of 10 to 500.

How does the pricing work?

Your discount is set by your team size and how much you order, from 20% up to 30% off retail. The two entry tiers have no contract; the highest tiers unlock with higher volumes and 2-year contracts.

Is a contract required to get these discounts?

No contract on the 20% and 25% tiers. The two highest tiers ask for a 2-year commitment in exchange for the deepest pricing. On the no-contract tiers you can pause or cancel anytime.

How long does it take to get started?

A few minutes to apply. You usually get access to our marketplace by the next business day, and your first batch of coffee lands within one to two weeks, depending on how far you are from the roaster.

What coffee will we get?

Fresh-roasted beans from a rotation of independent Canadian roasters like Monogram, Detour, and Rosso. Choose your coffees à la carte, or let us match them to the flavour profile your team likes.

What if our team doesn't like a coffee?

Tell us and we adjust the next delivery. The rotation keeps things varied, and your feedback shapes what you get.

How does delivery work?

On a regular schedule that suits your volume, usually monthly or bi-weekly. We adjust the cadence as your needs change.

Do you offer decaf?

Yes. We can add decaf to your rotation or include it in every delivery.

Do you provide machines, grinders, or service?

Yes. We can supply and maintain a commercial bean-to-cup machine sized to your team, or work with a machine you already have. Email hi@stillwatercoffee.ca and we'll set it up.

How is this different from going direct to a roaster?

With a Stillwater account, you get wholesale pricing across all 25+ roasters in our rotation, and far more variety and personalization than any one roaster can offer. We also handle sourcing, delivery, and equipment.

Do you know where the coffee comes from?

Yes. Before a roaster joins a shipment, they confirm the origin of their coffee down to the producer or processing station. Every roaster we work with meets that standard.

Is the price paid to farmers transparent?

We favour roasters who publish the price they pay, marked as Farmgate or FOB. Those prices are often two to four times the commodity and Fair Trade price. About a third of our roasters publish this today, and we're tracking that share as it grows.

What are you working toward on sustainability?

We track the share of our roasters that hold direct trade relationships with producers, publish their pricing, and keep long-term commitments (three years or more) to the communities they buy from. We publish our progress as the data comes in.
