About the Coffee

Creativa Coffee District (CCD) is a specialty coffee processor based in Boquete, in Panama's Chiriquí province. They converted a traditional wet mill and drying patio into a modern processing facility, with the goal of raising income for local growers and setting higher standards for sustainable processing. CCD has also built the space into a hub for local artists, using that connection to draw attention from the broader specialty coffee industry to what's happening in this part of Panama.

This coffee comes from a joint project between CCD and Rogue Wave, designed to bring high-quality Panamanian coffee to market at an accessible price point. It draws from two farms, Los Naranjos and Cerro Horqueta, both around 8 hectares and sitting between 1,250 and 1,750 meters above sea level. After ripe cherries are picked, they go through washing and drying, then are hand-sorted by expert local indigenous women from the region.

Rogue Wave visited CCD in March 2023, arriving on the exact day the team was sorting their coffee, and returned in March 2024 to check on the quality of the new harvest. That kind of direct involvement in the production process is how they keep tabs on what they're bringing back to Canada.
