About the Coffee

Homebody is a blend built from two very different coffees: a washed Ethiopian from the Limmu growing region and a natural-processed Brazilian from Santa Lucia. Blending across origins and processes lets Rosso balance the two, using each coffee's strengths to round out the other.

Washed processing means the coffee cherry's skin and fruit are removed before the beans are dried, giving a cleaner, more consistent cup. Natural processing does the opposite: the whole cherry dries around the bean, adding weight and body. Combining a washed Ethiopian with a natural Brazilian gives Homebody its balance, structure from the natural, brightness from the washed.

Ethiopia's Limmu region sits in the country's southwest, known for smallholder farms and long-standing coffee cultivation. Brazil's Santa Lucia is a lower-acid, high-body counterpart, the kind of coffee that grounds a blend rather than competing for attention. Together they're built for everyday drinking, not just one brew method.

About Rosso

Rosso started roasting coffee in Calgary in 2012, focused on sourcing beans directly and roasting them with intention rather than following a fixed house style.

Their approach centers on treating each origin on its own terms, choosing roast profiles and blend combinations, like the Ethiopia-Brazil pairing in Homebody, to bring out what each coffee does best rather than forcing one method across the board.

Homebody is one of those coffees I keep coming back to when I want something dependable. Blending a washed Ethiopian with a natural Brazilian isn't a common move, and Rosso pulls it off by leaning into what each side brings to the cup instead of trying to smooth them into sameness. It's the kind of coffee that works whether you're pouring it through a V60 or just hitting brew on a drip machine before work.
