Kunjin
Kunjin sources coffee from smallholder farmers across Papua New Guinea's Western Highlands, where producers own an average of 1.5 hectares and grow coffee alongside crops their families need to survive.
These "coffee gardens" sit between 1,400-1,900 meters above sea level, with about 2,500 trees per hectare. Farmers deliver their coffee as fresh cherries to the Kunjin program.
Sourcing coffee in Papua New Guinea requires navigating unique challenges; many indigenous communities speak different languages, have distinct customs, and limited internet or phone access, making direct relationships essential but complex to build.
One bag should yield 18 double espressos or 15 cups of filter coffee. If you find you need less or more, you can manage your subscription.
