About the Coffee

Moonlight Blend brings together two coffees grown a continent apart: one from Businde in Burundi, the other grown by Claudio Nakamura in Brazil. Blending coffees from different countries and elevations lets a roaster balance what each origin does well, rather than relying on a single farm or region to carry the whole cup.

Burundi's coffee farms sit on small plots in the country's hills, often less than a hectare each, where farmers depend on cherry coffee for a large share of household income. Brazil's Claudio Nakamura works on a larger scale, with the flatter terrain and mechanized processing common to Brazilian farms. Pairing the two gives this blend its structure: built for espresso, but flexible enough for drip or moka pot at home.

This is a bold, dark-roast style blend, put together for people who want a reliable cup for pulling shots or making milk-based drinks, not a coffee that needs a lot of dialing in to taste right.

About The Library Specialty Coffee

The Library Specialty Coffee was started by Jeffrey Ji, who spent time living in Melbourne before opening the cafe in Toronto. The Australian influence shows up throughout the space, right down to tiling near the entrance modeled after Patricia, a well-known Melbourne cafe.

Library roasts and sources coffee with an eye toward small, distinctive producers rather than the biggest names available. That approach carries into blends like this one, where the goal is a coffee that works well for espresso day in and day out.
