Jura E6 Review (2026): Strong One-Touch Coffee and Cappuccino

Jura E6 Review (2026): Strong One-Touch Coffee and Cappuccino

This Jura E6 review is for anyone deciding whether the E6 is the right super-automatic for their kitchen. It suits readers who drink mostly espresso and black coffee, make a cappuccino now and then, and want to know how the 2022 model behaves day to day. It draws on reports from E6 owners about coffee strength, the front milk switch, daily cleaning and how long the machine lasts, so you can judge whether the Jura E6 fits the drinks you make each day.

The E6 makes strong espresso and coffee at the press of a button

You press Espresso or Coffee, and the cup is full in under a minute. The E6 grinds fresh beans for every cup and can use up to 16 g of coffee for one drink, about the amount in a double espresso. More coffee in the same amount of water is what makes a drink taste strong, so owners who have tried several machines often pick the E6 for its strength. One owner who tried four super-automatic machines from three brands says the E6 "made the strongest coffee of all", and another owner's partner chose to keep the E6 over a second machine because the E6's espresso tasted slightly better.

Owners describe a routine anyone in the house can follow: press a button for each drink, change the strength on the screen while the beans grind, and save a drink once it tastes right. In Jura's own store reviews the most common praise is that coffee is ready at one button press every morning, and several owners say the grinder and pump run more quietly than their previous machine. The E6 also has a hot-water button for tea or for topping up an espresso into a longer drink. The spout rises to 111 mm, room for a standard mug. One owner's medium-height mug was too tall, and travel mugs are taller still, so owners with tall mugs brew into a cup and pour it over.

Smaller drinks fix weak coffee, and a warm cup fixes lukewarm coffee

At least six owners found their first coffees weak or watery. Weak coffee usually comes from a large drink made from one dose of coffee: the E6 uses at most 16 g per cup, so a 250 ml mug from one dose tastes thinner than a 100 ml cup. One owner who started out with a "watery mess" now brews espresso at 45 ml and coffee at 100 ml on the strongest setting and is happy with both. Fresher beans also make a stronger cup. Beans with a shiny, oily surface leave grounds stuck inside the E6, so owners grind them coarser or choose beans with a dry surface.

At least eight owners wanted the coffee or the milk hotter. For coffee, raise the brewing temperature to the highest of its three settings and warm the cup first with a splash from the hot-water button. A cold ceramic mug takes much of the heat out of a small drink, and Jura's manual recommends warming cups for the same reason. Owners who want hotter milk drinks warm the milk before it goes through the pipe.

A cappuccino takes one button and two turns of the front switch

To make a cappuccino you put the milk pipe in a carton or container, press Cappuccino, and turn the switch on the front of the E6 when the screen says "Open switch". The milk foam pours into the cup, the screen asks you to close the switch, and the espresso follows. The same switch runs the caffè barista, the lungo barista and the hot water. Owners who tried the E6 and the E8 name this switch as the main difference between them, because the E8 pours its milk drinks at one touch from a separate milk spout.

Owners like the foam. An owner who tried the E6 and the E4, Jura's model with no milk frother, at a Jura showroom chose the E6 for its "fluffy frothy" milk. The E6 rinses the milk system after each milk drink when you press the prompt, and on any day you used milk, Jura asks you to clean the frother with its milk system cleaner, a liquid run through the pipe from a small container that comes with the machine. Owners put the daily clean at one to five minutes. Two owners whose foam stopped fixed it, one by cleaning a small tip inside the frother and the other by rinsing straight after each milk drink.

One bean container holds one coffee, and a funnel takes a scoop of decaf

The E6 grinds from a single 280 g bean container, so every cup uses the same beans until you run them down. For a second kind of coffee, the 2022 E6 has a funnel for pre-ground coffee: you choose Ground coffee on the screen, add one or two level scoops, and the E6 brews that cup from the scoop. Owners use it for an evening decaf. Use a medium grind for the pre-ground coffee, because Jura's manual warns that very fine coffee can block the machine.

Daily care takes a few minutes, and the E6 prompts the rest

Each day you empty the drip tray and the used-coffee bin, both of which go in the dishwasher, rinse the water tank, and clean the frother if you used milk. The E6 rinses its coffee spouts when you switch it on and off. After 180 drinks or 80 switch-on rinses, the screen asks you to run a cleaning program with a Jura cleaning tablet. Hard water leaves mineral scale inside a coffee machine, and descaling is the program that dissolves it. With Jura's Smart+ water filter in the tank, the E6 skips descaling and asks for a new filter when the old one is used up. Jura suggests replacing the milk pipe and milk spout about every three months.

The part that brews the coffee, the brewing unit, stays inside the E6, and the cleaning tablet cleans it in place. Owners who used oily beans or left the E6 unused for months found grounds or mould inside, and one needed a warranty repair, so the cleaning prompts are worth following.

Ten owners of the earlier E6 report five or more years of daily use

The longest owner reports come from E6 machines bought around 2017 to 2021, before the 2022 model. One family that makes 12 to 20 cups a day had more than 28,000 cups from their E6 over seven years before its first fault. Other owners report five, six and almost seven years of daily use, one with zero repair costs in more than five years, and one on a factory refurbished E6 still running at five years.

The faults owners report fall into a few groups. Four owners reported leaks. One of them, whose E6 also showed a false "fill water tank" error at five weeks, was offered a free replacement by Jura with the shipping paid. Four owners heard a high-pitched noise or got no espresso when a small motor inside broke off its mounts, and fixed it themselves. Three older machines switched themselves off at random, which commenters traced to the power board. Two owners had brewing unit errors, and two in the UK and Europe needed a brewing unit service at one and a half and three years. One owner whose machine stopped at four months says Jura refused the warranty claim. The number of E6 machines in use is unknown, so these reports show which faults happen, and how often they happen is unknown. After the warranty, repair shops that service Jura machines rebuild a brewing unit or service the whole machine for a fraction of the price of a new E6.

Jura covers the E6 for 2 years or 6,000 cups in Canada

In Canada, Jura's warranty on a home machine runs 2 years or 6,000 cups, whichever comes first, and covers parts and labour. The machine has to come from an authorized retailer, and the owner pays the shipping to and from Jura's service centres in Mississauga, Burnaby and Montréal. A repair carries its own warranty of 1 year or 3,000 coffees. Damage from skipped cleaning and descaling is excluded, which is another reason to run the programs when the E6 asks. In the United States the E6 has a 2-year limited warranty.

One owner describes Jura's support as hard to reach by phone and helpful once he gets through, and another used the warranty a month before it ran out and had a good experience. Owners in a 2025 discussion advised against a four-year extended plan and suggested Jura's factory refurbished machines, which carry a warranty, over used machines from marketplace sellers.

The E6 sold since 2022 has a new grinder, 11 drinks and a decaf funnel

Jura lists the E6 sold in North America as its 2022 model. Compared with the earlier E6, the 2022 E6 has a new grinder, 10 strength settings instead of 8, three brewing temperatures instead of two, more drinks on the menu including the cappuccino with an extra shot, and the funnel for pre-ground coffee. An owner of the 2022 E6 called the coffee funnel "a nice addition to the latest model". Before buying a discounted or used E6, check the product page or the box for "2022" or the article number: 15465 for Platinum in Canada, and 15622, 15559 or 15621 for Piano Black, Piano White or Dark Inox in the United States.

In 2026 Jura released a newer E6 on its international site, with a second-generation grinder, a larger 3.5-inch screen and Light Brew drinks brewed at about 60°C for a milder cup. As of October 2026, Jura's Canadian and US sites list only the 2022 E6.

Jura E6 vs E8: the E8 makes lattes and flat whites at one touch

The E6 and the E8 both use up to 16 g of coffee per cup, and owners who have used the E6 and the earlier E8 say the two brew espresso and black coffee the same way. The current E8, Jura's 2025 model, has Jura's second-generation grinder, and owners have yet to compare its coffee with the E6's. The bigger difference is milk. The E8 has a second spout for milk drinks and makes them at one touch, and the 2025 E8 lists 27 drinks including latte macchiato, flat white and cortado, plus Light Brew and sweetened-foam versions. The E8 also has a 3.5-inch screen, larger than the E6's 2.8-inch screen. One owner who made the comparison names the E8's one-touch milk drinks, with no switch to turn, and its build quality as the reasons to pay more.

The E8 costs more than the E6. If lattes and flat whites are most of what you drink, the E8 makes them at one touch. If you drink mostly espresso and black coffee, the E6 costs less and leaves out milk drinks you would rarely use. For the full comparison, see Jura E6 vs E8.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Jura E6 worth it?

For a home that drinks mostly espresso and black coffee, owners rate the Jura E6 highly for strong coffee at the press of a button, and owners of the earlier E6 report five to seven years of daily use. The E6 also makes a cappuccino from one button and a turn of the front switch.

What is the difference between the Jura E6 and E8?

With Jura's Smart+ water filter in the tank, the E6 skips descaling and asks for a new filter instead.

How do you clean the Jura E6 milk system?

Rinse the milk system when the Jura E6 prompts you after each milk drink. On any day you used milk, run the milk system clean with Jura's milk system cleaner in the container that comes with the machine, and replace the milk pipe about every three months.

Can you use ground coffee in the Jura E6?

Yes. The 2022 Jura E6 has a funnel for pre-ground coffee. Choose Ground coffee on the screen, add one or two level scoops, and press the drink you want.
